We Have A Lawn!!!
A New Addition to the Florida Room.....Hairy. He's a 20 year old
Pony Tail Palm that I bought from a friend that owns a commercial
greenhouse. He'd outgrown his space. He is a welcome addition for
us, and I think he'll have some room to grow for a few years.
The Florida Room is in full bloom with new plants, and plants that I've
wintered over. All winter long my Geranium pots make a bright splash of
color!
We've been very busy doing landscaping all around the house. My guys gave me a beautiful fountain for Mother's Day. Which of course led to us using the last of our Cobblestones to edge the garden. The Cobblestones have a wonderful history! They were the streets of downtown Kansas City Missouri, and were taken up in 1958 to make way for asphalt streets. My Dad was on the paving crew and managed to get a dump truck load of the stones. They've moved with my family a total of 5 times, some ending up in the massive fireplace in our old home. We saved enough for our new house, and found the perfect place for them.

The back of the garage with finished landscaping, and just before we finished our new puppy Amy decided she didn't like one Hosta. We left it out, she's happy now.
Bob (our good friend) Delbert, and Daniel putting the finishing touches on the horse pasture fence. The pasture is directly North of the house, and from the Kitchen, Florida Room and upstairs I have a wonderful view of them. At right is our Horse Family. Sonny (our stud) on the left, Angel and their foal who is yet to be named.
A couple more pictures of the family. I have Stationery
of these photos too.
On the left is a picture of Amy and our oldest Basset,
Sugar. Sugar is 9 years old but acts like she's 3! She plays with
Amy all day, enduring far more than I could! At right are our 3
geese on the pond.
Amy's
"baby" picture, we rescued her from alongside our gravel road on March
30th. At right is a closeup of Sugar, our oldest Basset Hound.
It seems all we've done this Spring is yard work! But I think it's
going to be worth it. This is a picture of the front sidewalk leading from
the garage to the front porch. You'll notice Mickey and Minnie have their
own special place greeting visitors.
To
finish off the front yard is a picture of what I call my Finch Tree. It's
actually a full grown Red Bud tree that we carefully transplanted from another
location on our farm. The Goldfinch are thick around here, and very
quickly found the feeder I hung out for them. One day we counted 33
Goldfinch waiting their turn at 3 different feeders I have hung out. At
right is our beloved Grandfather Oak.

We
did take one afternoon off.....and did some fishing! All our catch were
quickly put in our pond to grow.
